Guidelines & Tips

All new orders of 250 and up require an approval print, although approval prints can be requested with any order.

Scan pictures, logos, and artwork for at least 300 dpi at final image size

Proportion pictures and layouts for the chosen size of the print (5x7 or 8x10). Include Borders.

Avoid thin rule lines near print edges. Print trimming varies. Sometimes the edge appears uneven.

Flatten Photoshop layers and channels.
For Black & White prints, convert file to grayscale prior to avoid additional charges.

Save files at 300 dpi or larger at final print size.

Save files as uncompressed TIFF files, JPEG files, saved at the highest quality settings.

We must have the file number documented if more than one on CD. We would prefer to have an original photo to match our reproduction for accuracy. If an original photo is not submitted, then the decision is left to the discretion of the photo lab technicians. In this case, Star Photo will not be liable if the customer is not satisfied with the final product.

Sample copies or specific instructions indicating cropping, contrast, density and type composition need to be submitted with the order. If not provided, our experienced lab technicians will use their best judgment in filling your order.
